Crew Portfolio has a launch date in 2027 and people ask why we wait. The site exists, the first example listings are up and we could open the doors tomorrow. We will not, because the collection is not yet what we would want a friend to walk into.

When the doors open in 2027, the Founding Collection will contain about 25 hotels. That number is not arbitrary. It is the number we believe we can visit, write up, agree terms with and stand behind ourselves in the time available and it is small enough that a member can read every entry without skimming.

It is also a number that serves the founding partners. A hotel listed alongside 24 others reads as chosen; a hotel listed alongside 200 reads as indexed. We want the first members to feel the difference and the first partners to feel the same.

What we are doing between now and then

We are visiting hotels: about 60 so far. The ones we have written up appear on the site as example listings while commercial terms are agreed.

We are talking to airlines. Crew Portfolio is for airline and aviation professionals and we are building the membership through direct conversations with crew and crew welfare teams, not by buying lists.

We are testing the booking flow with a small group of members. Every hotel handles bookings slightly differently and most of the rough edges live there, so that is where we are looking for them.

And we are writing this journal, because the pieces here explain what kind of hotel we feature more accurately than marketing copy will.

The promises

If you are on the member list between now and 2027: you will not receive a stream of opening-soon emails. You will hear from us when there is a hotel to tell you about.

If you are a hotelier: you will not be one of 200 properties at launch. You will be one of about 25 and we will have stayed at every one.

That is why 2027 and not before.
